Yosemite Easter Egg Hunt
Every year, the Rotary Club of Yosemite National Park hosts an Easter Egg hunt open to the Yosemite Community. The 2012 Rotary Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 7, at 10am at the Yosemite Valley School.
Sometime before the kids arrive, the Easter Bunny will have hidden eggs around the playgrounds of the Yosemite Valley School. A ribbon at the edge of the field keeps the eggs safe until, at 11am, the ribbon falls, and a gaggle of kids races out onto the fields to find their loot. With separate areas for the little ones and the bigger kids, and well over 1000 eggs and prizes scattered around, there's loot for everyone. Experienced kids make a special effort to find the “golden” egg, and little kids can get some extra help from the Easter Bunny himself.
This is a "wildlife friendly" hunt, meaning that the eggs contain either small trinkets, vouchers for bigger prizes (bikes and books and balls and so on), or just plain air. The empty eggs are then turned in for candy. This way any unfound eggs don't result in unhealthy food for critters and excess litter on the schoolyard.
